Melacaine topical anesthetic cream 02011

melacaine is a topical anesthetic cream.
Lidocaine and prilocaine enter through the skin and block pain receptors in nerve endings. Lidocaine and prilocaine reduce conduction of nerve impulses by interrupting the transfer of sodium ions across the membranes of nerve cells. This results in a local anesthetic action.

How to use:
A quantity of cream is taken to the affected area and the skin is gently massaged and left on the skin 
the effect of the drug begins quickly and lasts up to 4 hours maximum
On intact skin The most important thing to do is to be sure that you apply cream at least one hour before you are due to have the procedure or for procedures on genital skin where only fifteen minutes is required.
Leg ulcers If you are using melacaine on leg ulcers you only need to apply the cream 30 minutes before your ulcer is going to be cleaned.
